About the Event
Global climate change impacts, evident from increased frequency and intensity of rain and flooding events, have significant social, environmental and economic implications for Canadian municipalities. In 2013, the Insurance Bureau of Canada estimated insurance losses from natural disasters including Alberta and Toronto flooding to be $3.2 billion. This workshop will discuss useful frameworks and tools to develop water infrastructure resilience and climate change adaptation strategies. The workshop will highlight the impact of climate change on water infrastructure and demonstrate how trenchless technologies can help to renovate and adapt the existing aging infrastructure cost effectively. Case studies will show business case(s) to develop infrastructure renovation programs that can generate large cost savings. Furthermore, decision support tools to help municipalities develop and implement water infrastructure resilience and rehabilitation plans will be demonstrated.
